L'Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit

In my kit of wonders from L'Oréal this week I got to try the new Brow artist Genius Kit. It has wax at one side and the eyeshadow at the other.

The brush is my favourite part; it has an angled brush at one end (a little thick for defined lines if you are drawing on hair strokes but perfect for filling in gaps), and a mascara stye wand at the other end to groom brows into shape before styling.

The mini tweezers are handy for those looking for make up to carry on the go, and they all fit nicely into the neat packaging.

I got 2 colours:
•  'Light to medium' - a lighter brown which if used sparingly could be used on darker blondes.
• 'Medium to dark'  - a darker brown which is quite light at first so if you want it darker you're best to make sure you have more product on your brush and build the colour.

To get my brows in the picture below I used the darker shade and applied around 3 times.

I also used the Brow Sculpting mascara which I will do a review on soon :)

My L'Oréal Brush Contest Experience

I was a finalist in the L'Oréal Brush Contest in March. To get to the UK Final I had to submit a 3 minute 'Colour Clash' tutorial onto youtube.
This is a photo of the look I created based on this sunset from the view from my house. I used the blues & purples to clash with the oranges & pinks on the lips.

My video was chosen to be in the top 50 and then thanks to the public votes ( I got over 2,000 which I was totally not expecting!), I got into the top 5! Here are some photos from my experience:

Yes that is Cheryl Fernandez-Versini & Val Garland! They were both on the judging panel! They were both impressed by my ombré lip. Val gave us the look we had to focus on which was 'Graphic Liner'. We had 30 minutes to create our look so I went for a 60s theme with an extreme cut crease and a modern twist with the ombré lip. I wanted to use the eyeliner on a different part of the face other than the eye so I used it to create the darker outer corners of the lips. Here was my final look:

I didn't win in the end, but it was such an amazing experience and one that I will never forget! My prize for being in the top 5 was a full L'Oréal makeup kit!!!!! Wait until my next post and I'll add plenty of photos!!

Rimmel London 'Glam Eyes' Liquid liner

I love eyeliner and wear it almost every day! I have done for over 7 years now so I have a lot of practise. All I can say for liquid liner is *practise makes perfect!*

I use Rimmel London 'Glam Eyes' as it has lasting staying power all day. It has a great brush which makes it easy to get that flick at the ends of the eye. The colour is a bold black which I like, I think it stands out so much more. I love it!

Here are a few examples of ways I wear this eyeliner:

This is a shorter flick, this is perfect for work as it is a little more subtle but still defines the eyes.

This is a little more dramatic, with a longer flick. This is the type of flick I wear usually. The cat eye effect is flattering on all eye shapes, it's just tricky getting the flicks at the right angle and place!
I will do a youtube tutorial showing how to do liquid eyeliner & explain how to apply it on different eye shapes very soon!

If you search 'MUArtistry by Jen' into Youtube you will find my channel. Subscribe for more videos to come!

Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick - kiss proof?

I thought I would do a review of this lipstick. It's in shade 22 which is a bright rich red. I love red lipsticks and always try new brands and colours.

Kiss proof?

I did a swatch of kisses on paper (weird I know) but I wanted to see if it would last.

In this photo the top kiss mark was the first try, the bottom left was the 2nd and the bottom right was the 3rd. So yes it would transfer! However, it did still hold it's bold colour on the lips despite the transfer, and doesn't dry the lips out which is a huge must for me because I have dry lips!

So overall the answer would be "No", it's not kiss proof however despite it's transfer it is still long lasting and has smooth texture when applying :) xx

My first post!!!!

My first ever blog post!!! I'm just getting the hang of this so my page isn't too fancy right now but I will get there eventually!

Here's some photos from a photoshoot I did on Saturday:

The first look was for a 'glam nightout' look. I used Chanel VitaLumiere foundation for a flawless but not full coverage look. The shimmer on the eyes in by Inglot cosmetics. They are my new favourite brand right now and are next on the list for a review!

The second look was a 'Bohemian Bride'. I love the bohemian look because it's so fresh and natural. I also used the same Chanel foundation for this look so that all of the skins natural qualities (for example freckles! I love freckles lol) could be seen. The plaits just finished the look :)

Let me know what you think in the comments and if you use Inglot products or Chanel - let me know which ones! 💋 xx
